I like to use high-quality butter for just about everything but I find it really makes a difference in elevating the flavor of this crispy garlic bread. What also sets this recipe apart from other recipes is its golden, crunchy crust that can only be achieved by adding a thin layer of mayonnaise. Yep, mayonnaise! Trust me, once you try it, you’ll never go back to using just butter alone!
Crispy Garlic Bread Ingredients
For this easy 5-minute garlic bread, you’ll need a loaf of your favorite bread, about a full stick of butter, mayonnaise, grated parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and paprika. I like to use grass-fed or pasture-raised butter like Kerrygold or Vital Farms for the richer, creamier taste. For the parmesan cheese, I prefer grated vs. shredded as it browns easier and more evenly.
Spread your butter and mayonnaise evenly and not too heavily. Be sure to coat the edges thoroughly, as this makes for a more golden and crispy garlic bread crust. I tend to be a little heavy-handed with the garlic powder as I prefer a pretty garlicky flavor, but you can add as much as you’d like depending on your tastes. Sometimes, I’ll even add a little dried basil or Italian seasoning on top if I’m feeling…herby.
Place your bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easy clean up afterward. Place in a 400-degree oven and bake for about 10 minutes until you’ve achieved golden, bubbly, and crispy garlic bread.
This 5-minute garlic bread recipe is a favorite in my household. My almost two and three-year-old love it, which is more than I can say for most foods. The leftovers can be stored in a Ziplock bag and make a great, quick snack the following day.
Golden, crispy 5-Minute garlic bread your whole family will love.
1 Loaf of French Bread
1 Stick of Butter (room temperature)
Grated Parmesan Cheese
Dried Italian Seasoning (optional)
Slice loaf of bread lengthwise with a serrated knife. Butter both halves making sure to coat the edges thoroughly. I end up using about, or just shy of, one full stick of butter.
Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on top of the butter on both halves of the bread making sure to avoid any big clumps. Be sure to coat the edges.
Sprinkle with garlic powder, grated parmesan, and paprika.
Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and cook in a 400-degree oven for 10 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
